Operation & Expansion Director
Job overview:
The Operation & Expansion Director plays a pivotal role in scaling and optimizing the Optometry business across clinical, commercial, and strategic dimensions. This leader will drive operational excellence, spearhead expansion initiatives, and ensure alignment with the department’s growth goals. The role demands a visionary strategist with strong execution capabilities, cross-functional leadership, and a deep understanding of healthcare operations.
The Operation & Expansion Director reports directly to the Group Chief Business Development Officer – Optometry
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Expansion:
– Develop and execute national and regional expansion strategies for optometry services and clinics
– Identify new market opportunities and lead feasibility studies for new locations or service lines
– Collaborate with Marketing team and Business Development to support go-to-market strategies
2. Operational & Commercial Excellence
– Design and implement scalable operational frameworks for clinical and non-clinical functions
– Oversee daily operations across optometry units, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and quality
– Define and monitor KPIs to drive productivity, profitability, and patient satisfaction
– Develop and implement operational initiatives to ensure commercial targets are met or exceeded
– Ensure operational goals are consistently aligned with broader strategic priorities of the Optometry business
3. Cross-Functional Leadership
– Partner with Clinical Optometry, Optometry Business Development, HR, Marketing, and Call Center teams to ensure seamless integration of operations
– Lead and mentor the direct reports
– Foster collaboration across internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration of operations and business objectives
– Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports, building a high-performing and accountable team culture
– Coordinate closely with hospitals to align operational practices, enhance service delivery, and support joint initiatives
4. Governance & Quality
– Ensure adherence to clinical governance standards and regulatory requirements
– Support the Clinical Quality & Governance team in implementing quality assurance protocols
– Monitor and improve clinical accuracy and productivity across all units
5. Innovation & R&D Support
– Collaborate with R&D teams to pilot new operational models and technologies
– Facilitate operational readiness for new research centers and development projects
Requirements
– Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
– At least 8 years of experience in operations, overseeing both sales and marketing functions.
– Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership capacity, demonstrating strategic oversight and team development
– Proven success in managing multi-site operations or scaling healthcare service delivery
– Background in optometry or clinical service environments is highly desirable.
– Expertise in strategic planning and execution.
– Strong capabilities in designing and optimizing operational processes.
– Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional teams and engaging stakeholders.
– Solid financial acumen with experience in budget planning and oversight.
